Sprockler Evaluates Media Development Conference in Bonn

In October, Perspectivity’s storytelling tool Sprockler was invited to speak at the 2015 Forum Media and Development (FoME) Symposium hosted by Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie in Bonn, Germany. The topic of this two-day conference was ‘Focus on Impact: Advanced Methods and Concepts in Media Development’. Media development professionals from all over the world were invited to discuss and present new methods and concepts as well as ways they can effectively be applied and continue to improve the quality of media development projects.

After speaking at the symposium, Sprockler was asked to evaluate the whole event in cooperation with DW Akademie. This was a great opportunity for Sprockler to show off its unique quantitative and qualitative potential. It asked participants to share stories and interpret the meaning of their own stories. In this way, Sprockler could show off their experiences with the event and the insights they gathered in a visual and user-friendly manner. Click here to see the interactive representation.

Perspectivity Games-Showcase Event

We are all – to a lesser or to more extent – familiar with the Perspectivity Game. But did you already pick up the news that Perspectivity has brand new game challenges to offer? Does it make you curious? We are organizing a “games-showcase” event to show off and reveal the newly developed game concepts: to play and learn if/how they might be useful in groups and settings that you live or work with!

Which games are we talking about? There is the Public Health Challenge, the Decision-making Challenge, the Food Challenge, the Human Security Challenge, National Security Challenge and the Stress Nexus Challenge. The new box and board design of the existing Perspectivity Climate Challenge will also be on display, which looks fantastic.

The developers of the games will run a demo play workshop for everyone interested. You are able to participate in at least two workshops during the event – and when there is appetite to experience a full session, then we can organize a follow-up event to do that.

The event also includes an update about recent game developments and how we hope to create a next level impact with the game going forward, including stepping up the way we deliver games in the business sector.

If interested, please keep Saturday 28th of November reserved in your agenda. This day will probably consist of a differentiated program: a Train-the-Trainer session for the Perspectivity Challenge for new joiners; and a training session for becoming facilitator of one of the new games. More details about this training day will follow shortly.

If you are interested in a training, or know someone who is, please also inform us.

Please also inform us in case you are interested, but not able to make it on November 28th.

We are looking forward to meet you & play the new games!

Samen Onze Impact Vergroten – Perspectivity & IFF

Three Horizons Framework presented to Perspectivity Network by Anthony Hodgson from FunnelVision on Vimeo.

We deelden en gebruikten onze eigen ervaringen, realiteiten en ambities om te kijken naar hoe deze horizons er voor ons, als netwerk van geïnspireerde mensen, uit zouden zien en hoe we onze collectieve impact kunnen vergroten.

Progress report interns at Perspectivity: Rani

Rani Temmink

Age: 21

Nationality: Dutch

Background:

My name is Rani, which means Queen in Hindi. I grew up in Belgium but afterwards moved to India and later to Egypt. I am adopted from India by Dutch parents, who are currently residing in Israel. I have quite a multicultural background and am also proficient in other foreign languages. My mother tongue is Dutch, but I also speak English, French and a little bit of Spanish and Arabic. I never lived in Holland before, despite my parents being Dutch. However, now I live in Wageningen and am pursuing my studies in rural development & innovation at Van Hall Larenstein Hogeschool, University of Applied Sciences. Just like traveling to Indonesia, or Peru might be a culture shock for some, moving to The Netherlands was a culture shock for me. However, so far, I have enjoyed this new culture, challenge and adventure. Though, I do not plan on living in The Netherlands the rest of my life.

Current education:

I study rural development and innovation at Van Hall Larenstein Hogeschool, University of Applied science; I am currently in my final study year. My studies entail the dynamics of innovation and development in different settings i.e. culture, sustainability or marketing entrepreneurship. It’s a broad study that whenever people ask me what I do, I’m not sure what to say. I plan on following masters after I finish my bachelor. I have a few interests in the following topics: sustainability, environment, water management, human rights, and natural resource management. So, I’m not sure what path I’m going to take. 😀

Ambition for the future:

I do not have a clear vision yet of where I would like to be. However, I see myself being involved in development projects working abroad. I would love this because it’s what I feel at ease at. I grew up like this, in an international environment. As quoted by me during the interview: “it might be ambitious but I would like to make an actual change and be a role model for communities and wish to see other people smile and have a better life”. I would like to be in the bottom-up position, rather than top-down, where the community is also actively involved for change. My passion for helping others comes from her rooted multicultural background and also her love for travelling and to meet different cultures. I often think what my life would be like if I was not adopted. I am one of the fortunate ones, and would like to give back to the world.

Expectation for her Internship at Perspectivity:

I will be working on helping the development of new Perspectivity game versions. My expectation is to be able to produce actual tangible results. She hopes to be able to make a valuable contribution to Perspectivity to further innovate and develop the enterprise.
