The program, a multi-stakeholder partnership of One DropTM, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The Coca-Cola Foundation and Fundación FEMSA, is implemented through the A·B·C for SustainabilityTM model and the Social Art for Behaviour ChangeTM (SABC) approach.

In its role of Lazos de Agua’s strategic implementing partner, One Drop – that aims to ensure sustainable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to more than 2 million people in 14 countries– reached out to us to look at the impact of the SABC approach in the program with other lenses. Through its unique approach, One Drop together with partners is fostering healthy WASH-related habits, mobilizing communities and creating ownership in the communities participating in Lazos de Agua, contributing to the sustainability of its projects.

Lazos de Agua is keen to diversify the evidence of the impact of One Drop’s participatory SABC approach, that enables communities to be the protagonists of their own change. After a presentation at the WASH conference in The Hague in 2019, One Drop contacted Perspectivity to develop a pilot inquiry using Sprockler to get a better picture of the involvement and contribution of artists in Lazos de Agua, and their perception of the impact of the SABC interventions they lead.

Sprockler has proven to be a valuable tool and approach to gain new Lazos de Agua program insights and outcomes through collecting stories and turning them into insightful data patterns presented in an online report. In addition to the report, the participatory approach to develop the inquiry also enhanced the dynamic and conversation with the One Drop team about the expected and unexpected effects of the SABC interventions. In 2020 Lazos de Agua intends to expand the story-based sensemaking method to cover a wider spectrum of the program.

More info

About Lazos de Agua

About One Drop and their SABC approach

Contact Marjolein Kok or Petra de Boer

The process of using Sprockler has been beneficial to Lazos de Agua’s culture of results-based management and how such culture values qualitative data.
