On the 22-24 June 2022, representatives of nine different stakeholder groups (73 delegates) came together to discuss the future of women entrepreneurship in Kenya. This Future Search initiative was organized by the Center for the Promotion of Imports (CBI). CBI supports transitions towards inclusive and sustainable economies.
Bringing the whole system to the room, Monique Janmaat and Han Rakels facilitated this Future Search conference focusing on the question:
“How can women-owned and women-led small and medium enterprises strengthen themselves and expand their businesses to contribute to a sustainable growth of the economy in Kenya?”
More than we could have done in 6 months
The conference fostered common ground and collaboration among various stakeholder groups. This enabled the creation of tangible action plans for the future of women entrepreneurship in Kenya. It kickstarts the women entrepreneurship project supported by CBI, whereby the project plans will be further refined by each action plan working group. As one of the participants commented:
“In three days, we achieved what would otherwise have taken six months or more.”
