Every individual creates their story; their interpretation of the world. By exploring narratives in depth, we build connections with one another and break down misunderstandings. This belief has shaped my professional journey and who I am.
This is also what brought about my interest in studying migration & diaspora and looking at its perception by different actors in society. In my research and work, I look for patterns that may not be obvious and then make sense of their meaning as defined by history and current social dynamics.
I have collaborated with a wide range of organisations in Europe and Central Asia in the public and private spheres. My strength lies in critically analysing complex issues and communicating them to stakeholders at all levels succinctly and clearly. I take inspiration when my work acts as an enabler for effective decision-making. For this reason, I enjoy having exposure to the facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes, and in particular, cross-sectorial partnerships. Empowering people with knowledge and seeing a change in their attitude has always been a driver for me.
My academic background began in Russia studying History and Ethnography. I then moved to France and the UK, where I am currently based, to broaden my knowledge of research methods in Anthropology and Sociology. Everywhere I went I took my djembe with me.
Having grown up in Siberia, I have always been fascinated by how a long-distance train journey slows down the notion of time and unlocks a conversation. I dream of taking my husband and our children on a train across Siberia where my journey started.
